The casino expansion proposal would completely eliminate local communities’ right to vote up or down on expansions of casino gaming in the future.

As it stands, any new gaming expansion must be approved both in a statewide vote and in the local community where gambling would take place. The casino expansion proposal would completely eliminate this important protection that Michigan voters overwhelmingly approved in a 2004 statewide vote.
