Michigan today has 25 casinos in nearly every corner of the state, plus thousands of Club Keno and “charity” gambling operations. Now, a few unnamed mystery business owners are trying to buy their way into Michigan’s constitution so they can build eight MORE casinos in our state. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
If their constitutional amendment passes, casinos could be built in your neighborhood – whether you like it or not. The right Michigan citizens currently enjoy – to say yes or no to a new casino or gaming expansion – would be lost.
On top of all that: there’s no guarantee we’d even see the money. The proposal is so full of loopholes that it’s a field day for lawyers – and ultimately leaves it up to the politicians in Lansing to decide how to set the tax on casinos.
Remember how they said the LOTTERY would FUND SCHOOLS? It instead just wound up allowing Lansing politicians to swap the money already being spent on education with lottery dollars. The same thing would happen with casinos – it’s the lottery shell game all over again.
